I am not a very good gardener. I have the best of intentions. I sometimes even manage to make realistic plans and set reasonable goals. Yet somehow a proper garden still eludes me. It could be that I don’t actually like being outside when it’s hot. Or sunny. Or humid. This year, once again, the yard has gotten away from me.
If I can’t make things behave in my yard, I can at least knit things that remind me of what I was hoping to grow. These socks make me think of twisting, curling, growing things – - leaves and vines and fronds. They’ll look better in the middle of winter too.
This is a top down sock with a heel flap. The pattern is five pages long, has five charts, and four pictures. Many of the stitches on the charted portions of the sock are knit through the back loop. Pay careful attention to the charts and the legend. If you hate knitting through the back loop, feel free not to, just know that it will produce a slightly different effect.
